Microsoft Webinar
Microsoft is pleased to present a webinar on Wednesday, November 20 from 9:00 to 10:00 AM for all CEHD faculty, staff, and students to highlight some of the latest accessibility features in Microsoft Office 365 and Windows 10.
In today’s multi-ability world, educators must meet the needs of all students including English Language Learners, students with reading disabilities, and even gifted students. Microsoft’s accessibility options, built-in to its core products, extend beyond just the ability to provide digital resources for students. In this session, you will experience how free tools like Immersive Reader, Office Lens, and Accessibility Checker make it easy to provide learning materials that are accessible for all students. You will also learn some tips and tricks on how to create accessible content using the free tools in Office products like Word and PowerPoint.
To join the webinar, click this link prior to 9:00 AM on Wednesday, November 20, 2019. If you are unable to view the webinar live, but would like to watch a recording, please write to OET and we will notify you when a recording of the session is available for you to view.
MacOS Catalina
MacOS Catalina is the newest operating system released by Apple for Macintosh. While it is good to keep your system up to date for the most recent security and patches, this update is a feature update and is currently not approved for general use on University systems. The reason is this update breaks many critical University applications. Currently, this update is not recommended for personal systems either due to these software issues. Apple has been releasing patches to fix the update, and other software vendors and UD are working to get their applications working in Catalina.
Contact OET for more information or to discuss testing the update in its current state through our support request form. If your Apple system is not already running one of the other recent MacOS updates—High Sierra or Mojave—it is recommended to upgrade to one of those instead for the time being.
MacOS Catalina has several new features related to media, including a new Apple TV app, Apple Music app, and podcasts integration. Notes and Reminders apps have been updated, and Sidecar functionality for linked iPads used as a second screen in some apps has been added.
UD Eduroam Refresh
UD IT performed an Eduroam Wi-Fi refresh on October 21 causing all devices connected to Eduroam lose their network connectivity. If you need to reconnect a device, you will need to remove/forget the old Eduroam profile. Instructions for removing the old certificate can be found at the UD IT webpage, forgetting the Eduroam network. Once you have removed the profile, UD IT has provided instructions on how to Use Get Started at UD to sign-up for Eduroam Wi-Fi. If you have questions about the Eduroam refresh, please contact OET.
