August 2017 OET Newsletter
We’ve added a new plugin to our standard install of WordPress sites that enables you to break out of the standard template design and add advanced features to individual pages. The Layouts plugin is part of the Toolset suite of plugins that we install with all of our sites. Layouts gives you the ability to design individual pages using an intuitive drag and drop interface. You can add features like tabs, accordion menus, and slideshows by simply drawing them onto the screen. The Toolset website has a brief overview. Contact OET if you would like to add Layouts to your site, and we will get you started.

New Arc Academy Camp
Sixty-four 4th – 7th grade students dissected sharks, programmed robots, learned about bomb disposal, and toured the Oil Spill Response Vessel DELRIVER in Lewes, as part of our New Arc Academy camp July 24 – August 4. The camp, which celebrated its 23rd year, continued to engage students in science and technology activities with its focus on marine sciences. Students were all smiles as they demonstrated what they created and learned in a final presentation for parents on August 4. Next year’s New Arc Academy is slated for July 23-August 3.
App of the Month: Slack
Slack is a team communication tool that offers you a shared workspace to message members of your team. You organize communication according to channels that you create. Public channels are open to your team and can center on projects, departments, or any other topic. You also can create private channels for specific team members or direct message members of your team. In addition, Slack can provide message notifications when you are not actively working in Slack and allows you to upload files into the conversation for team comments. Slack is free for small teams and is available on the web and for Windows, Mac, Android, and iOS.
