Sakai to Canvas Migration Session Scheduled for CEHD
Canvas will become UD’s sole learning management system when Sakai is retired on December 21, 2018. Assistance is available, for anyone who would like to keep or migrate courses and projects currently on Sakai. To assist with migration questions, Faculty Commons staff will hold a drop-in help session for CEHD faculty and staff in Alison Hall 220 on Wednesday, June 27, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. In the meantime, virtual consulting and information on how to migrate course content is available on the Transition to Canvas (T2C) site.
Exchange Public Folders to Move
With Exchange email migration complete, the next and final step in the Exchange migration process is for IT to move the Exchange public folders to the cloud. Many of you who use Exchange use public folders for various reasons, including to schedule conference rooms, store contacts, and to track vacations. The move will take place early on Sunday, June 10. Public folders will be inaccessible for approximately 2-4 hours while they migrate. You should be able to access public folders as you normally would after the move is complete.
New Windows 10 Features Available
Microsoft introduced a new set of Windows 10 features in an update launched at the end of April. In addition to minor cosmetic changes, Microsoft introduced handy new features, such as Nearby Sharing, which is the ability to transfer files directly between PCs running the update by connecting them to each other over Bluetooth. There is an explanation of the new feature additions on TechRepublic’s site. By next week, all new PC deployments performed by OET will have this version of Windows 10, version 1803, installed. We anticipate that this update will be pushed eventually to all Windows machines. In the meantime, if you would like OET to install the update on your computer as an upgrade, write to OET to schedule an appointment with a technician.
Missed Layouts?
If you were unable to attend our recent WordPress Users Group meetings, there is an introduction to Layouts video available on our site. The video reviews how to layout attractive and responsive pages to make it easy to design your site. In addition, we discuss elements specific to the CEHD web template such as tabs, accordions, and colors. Look for our next WordPress Users Group meeting in the fall.
