MAC set-up
Setting up a MAC
Apple ID – just continue – no email or phone #
Create Account – just use first name for name and shortcut, use std OET password
Choose Library picture – Philadelphia
Under Apple – System Preferences
Accounts – click on lock to allow changes
– disable guest account
– add troubleshooter and make admin
-add laptop account
– Change to display icon name and password
Finder Preferences
Show hard drive and bottom choice
Check connected servers
Apple – System Preferences
Network location
Auto configure, IP and Router – apply (never WINs or DNS)
SAFARI – go to www.udel.edu/udeploy
Install, Firefox, Virex (McAfee), Office, Fetch (you will need to drag the serial number or use the command + C keys and paste using command + V key) – leave the host name blank & choose no widgets; also install VPN, Adobe Flash, Adobe Reader and Adobe Professional.
Run Apple updates – find them under system preferences
Open Word – go to help – check for updates
To create shortcut to OET files — GO – connect to server – smb://uno.oet.udel.edu/department

Take out IP and Router info. DNS should be 13.16 and 13.17
